Application Process:
1.Pilot Approach: As an aircraft approaches the airport for landing, the pilot will visually observe the PAPI lights to determine if the aircraft is on the correct glide path.
2.Color Indication: If the pilot sees more red lights, it indicates that the aircraft is below the glide path and needs to increase altitude. If more white lights are visible, the aircraft is above the glide path and needs to decrease altitude. An equal number of red and white lights indicate that the aircraft is on the correct glide path.
3.Adjustments: Based on the color of the lights, the pilot can adjust the aircraft's altitude and approach angle to align with the correct glide path for a safe landing.
4.Feedback: The PAPI system provides immediate visual feedback to the pilot, helping to ensure a smooth and precise landing even in low visibility conditions.
